This happened the day before the VGX awards… Coincidence? Hinting? Or consequence?
I changed history folks. That’s one less “Game of the Year” accolade to slap on the back of The Last of Us box, and one less pillar to uphold the neofeminist crusade. We all know that VGX awards are the highest authority, after all… Ha ha.
VGX gave The Last of Usthree awards. (Best Voice Actor, Best Voice Actress, and Best PlayStation Game.) That’s only one award short of my prediction, which means if they had given it “Game of the Year”, my prediction would have been correct! Spooky.
(For those who weren’t paying attention, Grand Theft Auto V won their “Game of the Year” award, which fake intellectuals and insecure liberals are trying to condemn, despite being a crowning achievement of production, game design, and yes, even writing this generation. I may have to explain why in a separate post some time.)
With 64% of the vote and a widening margin, it seems you have chosen Metal Gear Solid 2 as the game you’d like to be reviewed first! And so it shall be.
I admit I’m surprised, though. The Last of Us has been dominating sales charts and the hearts of critics everywhere, and it started off strong in the poll. Thankfully it shouldn’t take nearly as long to finish the review of MGS2 as it did to complete the other six parts of the Breakdown.
Believe it or not, after 12 years of analyzing MGS2, this will be my first time judging the game as a critic first and foremost. Having delved into the farthest depths of the game’s madness, I feel a certain obligation to deliver a fair judgment, without personal bias. I’m excited to see what I think.
Now that I’ve finally put up Part 5 of the MGS2 review, I plan on taking a short break from the series before diving into Part 6. In the meantime, I want to do some more reviews of games, although not as lengthy as the XCOM: Enemy Unknown review.
I’ll probably review Retro City Rampage and Path of Exile (once I’ve played the full version), but that’s not all! I also plan on adding a rating to things I’ve already examined such as Intrusion 2, Brink, and The Last of Us. Now granted, I haven’t personally played those last two games, and one of them isn’t even released yet, but I feel comfortable judging them anyway, because it’s fun and I trust that my cautious deductions are good enough. Not only that, but my superpower of insight allow me to simulate the entire game in my head from just a handful of screenshots or a single promotional trailer. Don’t believe me? I looked up your Facebook pictures and am judging YOU right now. I give you a +2. Keep up the good work.
[NOTE: Full review is on its way. This was a reaction to the initial E3 trailer and hype.]
[Added a second part.]
You’ve probably heard of The Last of Us by now, which means you’ve probably shrugged and said yeah, cool I guess. It’s the gory post-apocalyptic PS3 exclusive developed by Naughty Dog, makers of the Uncharted series. It’s already won a bunch of awards, including “Best of Show”, “Best Original Game”, “Best Console Game”, and “Best Action/Adventure Game” at this year’s E3. There’s no doubt that it will be a highly polished, carefully crafted, and feature unparalleled voice acting and CINEMATIC CINEMATIC CINEMATIC.
