Did VGX read my The Last of Us review and change their mind about it?

This happened the day before the VGX awards… Coincidence?  Hinting?  Or consequence?

I changed history folks.  That’s one less “Game of the Year” accolade to slap on the back of The Last of Us box, and one less pillar to uphold the neofeminist crusade.  We all know that VGX awards are the highest authority, after all… Ha ha.

VGX gave The Last of Us three awards. (Best Voice Actor, Best Voice Actress, and Best PlayStation Game.)  That’s only one award short of my prediction, which means if they had given it “Game of the Year”, my prediction would have been correct!  Spooky.

(For those who weren’t paying attention, Grand Theft Auto V won their “Game of the Year” award, which fake intellectuals and insecure liberals are trying to condemn, despite being a crowning achievement of production, game design, and yes, even writing this generation.  I may have to explain why in a separate post some time.)

Why I Hate “The Last of Us” (Now With More Hate!)

[NOTE: Full review is on its way. This was a reaction to the initial E3 trailer and hype.]

NOW WITH MORE HATE!

[Added a second part.]

You’ve probably heard of The Last of Us by now, which means you’ve probably shrugged and said yeah, cool I guess.  It’s the gory post-apocalyptic PS3 exclusive developed by Naughty Dog, makers of the Uncharted series.  It’s already won a bunch of awards, including “Best of Show”, “Best Original Game”, “Best Console Game”, and “Best Action/Adventure Game” at this year’s E3.  There’s no doubt that it will be a highly polished, carefully crafted, and feature unparalleled voice acting and CINEMATIC CINEMATIC CINEMATIC.

Help me finish this drawing

You may not know that on top of being a professional-grade writer, I’m also a prize-winning artist.  (Yoji Shinkawa himself picked my drawing to win a prize in the official Kojima Productions fan art contest, and it was discussed on the KojiPro podcast.  Not bragging or anything!)  I made a bunch of sketchy/strange comics about Metal Gear (which you can browse here) and I’ve been getting better at it since then.  The latest stuff is here.

Well I’ve started drawing a new piece, and I’m giving YOU the chance to suggest how I finish it:

Pretty cool right?

I wouldn’t call it a contest (because all of my contests end with embarrassing lack of entries) but if you’re some kind of art-liking individual who has a sense of humor or has always wanted to see Old Snake… doing something… then, here’s your chance to shout ridiculous ideas at me.

Tweet at me, dogs.

I also highly recommend following me on Twitter because I’m one of those good Twitter users who never talks about what kind of food I’m eating.  Screw those people, man.

Best April Fool’s Day Prank 2011

Best April Fool's Day Prank 2011

As you know, every year that we feel like it we honor the best April Fool’s Day prank, in recognition of those wily mischief makers in the Metal Gear community!

This year, the award goes to The Snake Soup for their bombastic and spastic “MGS Social Bros” prank, in which they replaced their main page with an astounding amount of low-brow fratboy homage and terrible pictures. Well done!

Contributing to the believability was the effort of username “JohnKillaz224” and others, who wrote a bunch of inane, hilarious satire. More than is necessary for a prank. Way more. Including YouTube videos! That’s going the extra mile.

Truly worthy stuff. And although I’m disappointed that you are back to normal, I am glad to see the short-lived burst of creativity you managed to squeeze out there. It goes to show that it’s possible!

Once again a reminder that my site redesign is NOT an April Fool’s prank, and will continue to develop as promised!
